[UPDATE] It ran for most of 2007.

1. Yes, that’s me on the TV commercial in the airplane laughing my fool head off. It’s an ad for State Farm Insurance, although I have had people tell me that they have seen my All State ad, my Southwest commerical, my airline ad, etc. I don’t mind what you call it as long as the checks show up in my mailbox!! I will try to get the commerical up, so those who haven’t seen it can…

2. The budlight spot continues to air as well. It probably isn’t airing as much as the State Farm ad, but hey, two national spots at the same time, that’s okay by me…

3. I have altered my relationship with Live at the Bike. I will be going back to what I was doing before, which is filling in once in a while. It was a good time, but I have some higher priority things that I need to focus on and so, something had to give. It was great while it lasted. Bart Hanson, my co-host, is truly one of the best poker commentators out there working today. His departure was at the same time as my self-demotion, but the two were in no way related. I would have taken a back-seat no matter. The show will continue though and if you like live poker cash games, I urge you all to check it out at http://www.liveatthebike.com.
4. I am doing some commentating this weekend for The Poker Event at the Vegas Grand Prix, check out http://www.pokernetcast.com for more info and to catch the event on PPV. It’s two events, Friday night is the Everyman Tournament and then Saturday night is a Celebrity/Charity event. Should be a great weekend down at Binions this weekend.

5. At the beginning of the March, I was invited to play in the World Poker Tour’s Celebrity Invitational and what a great time I had! I didn’t make any money, but I did get the chance to rub elbows with some awesome folks. Check out the pictures on the photos page…

1. The Budlight ad did air in the 4th quarter of the Superbowl. They went with the version with the burlap sack on my head, so it was a brief appearance and you can’t recognize me, but fun anyway…the best news though was that my other commercial for State Farm aired right after the Superbowl and before the trophy presentation…so not technically airing during the Superbowl itself, we’ll fudge and say I had TWO commercials during the Superbowl…pretty cool, eh? I hadn’t seen the State Farm commercial and didn’t know it was airing, so that was a nice surprise…

2. The PokerNetCast.com Heads Up Challenge went off a couple days after the Superbowl. It was simulcast on liveatthebike.com. There were some technical problems on the first day which negated it being broadcast that day, but it was still captured for the archives and for the eventual TV show that will be produced out of the material. Bill Edler ended up defeating Barry Greenstein in our finals. It was a great, exhausting three days. We met some great folks. Of course, the poker players: Daniel Negreanu, Chip Reese, Micheal “The Grinder” Mizrachi, and many others. A couple of my favorites were there: “Yukon” Brad Booth and Gavin Smith. On the last day after we were all done Gavin asked me how much I weighed. Now, knowing Gavin’s propensity to bet on things and knowing in the past people always guessing low, I figured I might have a chance at a little $$, so I said, “well, I can’t just tell you, we need to bet a little something don’t we?” and he said sure he’d bet on it and I gave him pretty wide range – 10lbs either way. Well, I walked out of that deal with a couple c-notes when he guessed too low. Thanks Gavan!! Overall, despite the technical problems, it was a great three days and will keep you posted as to when the show may air on TV.

3. The following week was Trent Tucker’s Hoopology Celebrity Poker event. Again, Poker NetCast was involved and I would be one of the commentators for this charity event staring the likes of Michael Jordan, Mike Sexton, etc. The event was held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.  It was a fun couple of days, met some cool folks, and had way too much of the margarita’s. Dont’cha know drinks are free in Vegas!! Another reason I shouldn’t live there…hehe….there are a couple of good bits about the time in Vegas, but as they say…what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, though if you corner me sometime and buy me a drink perhaps a story or two will spill out…

Now, recovery time. It will be nice to take a break and gear up for…well, who knows…but I look forward to it.

So, the Bud Light Shoot happened last Friday. The plan was to meet at 1:30pm at Sable Canyon Ranch in Santa Clarita.

Sable Canyon is a place used for making many different films. They basically have a little ghost town for westerns (see photos via flickr to the left), and other various locations that can be used for films. So, I arrived and they were shooting a different Bud Light spot. It involved pirates and was set in a bar. So, the waiting began. I worked with wardrobe to come up with an outfit that worked. Ended up wearing my own clothes which will kick in some extra $$ at the end of the day. So, black jeans, some layers up top covered with my jean jacket is what I would be wearing…oh yeah, and a burlap sack with one eye-hole on my head. Originally, they had designed the spot to have me wearing a hockey mask, but that was too similar to some famous movie character…(hint, he only works on Friday’s)…so burlap for Bostin….

The plan was to film at twilight, which would be about 5pm or so…so, basically, we waited…

Finally, it was time to move to our location. We were going to film down the road a ways on Placerita Canyon Road…It would involve a car, and they had CHiPs there to block the hiway when needed. The crew trucks were set up along the side of the road as were we.

They rushed to get some shots of the car driving down the road…then it was my turn. I was hurried into my spot as we were losing the light. A few takes and I thought I was done, but the light was so bad, that they had to set up additional lights and we basically re-did my stuff.

After we were done, I thought I might get to leave, but the director held on to me, just in case…so, I got to hang out in the cold, canyon night while they filmed the rest of the spot. There are some shots of the car on the dolly to left (on flickr), but it was dark and you can’t see much, but it gives you the idea. Finally, around 10pm we were done and on our way home.

So, things went fine. I hope the spot turns out well. It is being considered as a Super Bowl ad, so cross your fingers for that one! No matter, I just hope it gets used and used a bunch, cha-ching $$…

Pretty dark at the moment up here in Sand Canyon. I am pretty much done with my coverage.

Got the word this morning! Booked the Budlight spot that I mentioned the other day. Of course, more details to come. But for now, Yippee!, Yee-Haw! Hurray!…Will be shooting it Friday. I will try to post up some pics if I can from the shoot! Don’t wanna give away the spot, but I already know that you will see me, but you probably won’t know it’s me…more on that later…
