What a week…Casting Directors, Poker and More!

Wow, it’s certainly been an interesting week in my life. I got an audition for an HBO promo, which is being cast by a very well known casting director (big time, as it were!) and it turns out this is the casting director that was my first big film audition after graduate school. In fact, I missed my last class in graduate school to take the train up from North Carolina to NYC to meet with her and audition. Of course, sugarplums were dancing in my head as I thought, wow, wouldn’t this be the great story…missing my last class to audition for my first major film…get it, and then the next thing you know, I am on late night, telling Dave my story. Well, it didn’t turn out quite like that, did it? I did okay in the audition, and the CD had kind words for me. Anyway, cut to 10 1/2 years later, I was wondering how to get this tidbit in to the current HBO audition. I arrived but I couldn’t really recognize her. The posters on the wall seem to be written to two people, so I thought, maybe this is the partner in the company. Anyway, after I was done, she says to me — Bostin, I feel like I met you when you first moved to LA — I say, No, actually… — but before I can finish, she cuts me off and says — No, let me get it, you auditioned for [xxxx] ten years ago in NYC — I was amazed! She had great recall and it’s no wonder why she is one of the biggest casting directors working today…——————————————————-
Also, most of this week, I filled in as Co-Host on Live at the Bike. It was great to do almost a whole week of it. It’s definitely something I would be interested in doing more of. It’s a good blend of my interest in Poker and my skills as an actor/talking head….It is a subscription only service, but you can watch episodes ala carte/pay-per-view for $2.95 each or get a monthly subscription for $14.95. I have a call-back on Monday for a Bud-Light commerical as a chainsaw guy, ala Jason. Wouldn’t mind getting that, cha-CHING! So, keep me in your thoughts. It’s not really about talent for this one, so it just depends if I am what they want…
